A train whose name was Yesterday
Came thundering down that track.
You know the one.
That same track on which Tomorrow
thundered in….
From east and west
A hundred thousand tons of steel
Came screaming,
Screaming down that track,
And crashed….
The track is gone,
The steel is gone,
The thing is done.
But if you will come along with me,
I will show you where it happened:
I was there,
Sitting on a bench,
In a little station,
In a village whose name was Now,
Waiting to catch my train.
